A writing life has no start date or retirement date. I know writers who became authors at a young age and now in their eighties still find joy in daily writing.

Seniors might finally find the time to write down childhood stories, their memoir, travel blogs, poetry, essays or a novel.

In writing, people are able to express themselves, find an outlet for frustrations, celebrate the joys in life, escape from reality or try to understand the world we live in.

Author Martha Attema

Martha Attema’s award winning novels were inspired by family experiences and historical events during WWII. She has published six novels and one picture book for readers 4-16 years old. The Magical Midnight Rescue, a story about the North Bay Heritage Carousel, was co-authored with the late, Marla J.Hayes, and published as a fundraiser. Her latest novel for young readers is inspired by young people all over the world, who share her concern for the environment.

She loves classroom visits, in person and virtual, and work with young people offering oral story-telling sessions and writing workshops. Born in the Netherlands, Martha now lives in an off-grid straw bale home. During her retirement she has been working on reducing her carbon footprint.

BOOK PRIZES!  At the end of the lecture, the names of ten participants will be drawn, each one receiving a signed copy of Martha Attema’s book, “The Magical Midnight Rescue.
